A bit late…

but better than never.

I did a couple of challenges but never got around to posting them so I will show them here anyway

A few LO’s I have done over the last couple of weeks

and the close up

still loving my teal colours and can’t get enough of it.

Next one..using some old photos of my grandmother in the airforce

and close up again

And this next LO is of hard to use colours..I just find yellow and blue hard….esp the yellow. Would almost change Cameron to a diff soccer team so it would be easier for me to scrap if his team hadn’t been together for 5 years now :)..mean mummy πŸ™‚

ok so next up is some more pages of my art journal I am working on…slowly LOL

Tried a little of everything on these pages..and am liking the looks too. Love how you can just play and it works out in the end. Its all about layering and I say if it doesn’t work…layer some more πŸ™‚

Right best go and see if I can get some more of my work photographed..but not liking my chances considering its on again, off again snowing or raining here today.

Ta for looking and happy crafting all

A couple more pages for my book

I had some time today to play some more with my canvas paper. So I did 2 more pages for the album I wanna make up.

Here is what I did….this was the first one I did and my fav. πŸ™‚

and second one

I got the end of this quote from another scrappers blog..gorgeous and loved it and had to use it.

And then charli brought me home this card she made at kindy.

Cute as and so random…half christmas and half birthday. I think she was hitting two birds with one stone here….

So front side (I just unfolded it to photograph)

and inside.

Thats all for today…hopefully I get some more time soon to play crafty fun

ta for looking all

Some more Art Journal pieces.

Last night I went around to Donna’s house for a little scrapping. I took my canvas pad paper and paints and got majorily messy again.

But so much fun. I have decided to make a journal with my canvas pages …not clues on what will fill it but this is what i completed last night

I used one of Donna’s “dolly mumma” stamps. I so loved this one, and it totally fits me right now.

Close up

And my second page…..

Using TH’s stamps, outline of the dress from die and loads of paint , textured moulding paste plus some random materials I had lying around my box of goodies…then added some doodling onto the page and mini alphas. I think this one was my fav of the night.

Close up

Well night for now, just a quick post while I remembered these were on the camera.

If any readers out there have been doing and Art journaling or “she art”, please leave me a link as I would love to learn some more from you all and see what you are all up too πŸ™‚

Happy crafting all

Have u tried……….

So have you tried your hand at “She Art” and more?????

I was in a little rut and my friend Lydia felt she wanted to try out something new too, so we set about finding some inspiration. Lydia’s sister-in-law Michelle does some amazing Art journaling that has been inspiring us for some time now (we still want a tut on her amazing file journals).Β  Anyway we got searching and came acrossΒ  Christy Tomlinson’s She Art tuts on u-tube and on her gorgeous blog. This lady has some super amazing Art happening and gee would I love to attend some of her fun classes.

So rolling with the video’s we had seen on Christy’s You tube uploads showing some techs and ideas, we set about having some creative fun at Scrap saturday with the Scrapbook Paradise regulars.Β  I give full credit to Christy for the ideas and due to not holding a drawing pencil since high school art, I had to take some creative juices from her work too.

I actually can’t believe I got 3 canvas’ done in 5 hours….It just seemed to roll well and I knew I wanted to just play, with no plan, no idea and just work with it. So here are my 3 canvas’ I created.

and some close up’s of the underlying details

so u can see not only did I have to draw, but had fun playing with heaps of different mediums including gesso, modelling paste, paints, inks, stencils, masks and other odd materials to give texture on the canvas.

Next one I knew I wanted to use this butterfly stencils with placing gesso straight onto it, and the rubbing the outline onto the canvas…this is what I came up with in the end. I used TH’s heart die cuts for background detail.

and close up

Well I think I have posted the pictures in the opposite order to how I created on the day…funny. But this piece of She art was the first canvas block I played with on Sat morning.Β  Totally a lift (the girl) from Christy’s tuts…but that’s how you learn to start with right????

then some close up’s of the piece.. U can see the TH’s butterfly mask here….

and then used a gorgeous tree stamp I borrowed off the gorgeous Annette from Scrap sat…I used paint to stamp it on then doodled around it more and added the swing.

and you can see the stencil I used underneath the paint (leafy print) that just gives the whole thing more texture and dimension to the whole piece. I loved how you just keep creating layers and the results seem to just creep up on you to a whole piece of art.

Well that was my scrap saturday in pictures…totally an awesome day and fun to try something that I haven’t done before..I will be playing with some more as soon as I can get my hands on some Faber-castell PITT big tip pens….I want…and love what I have seen people do with them.

Hope everyone is having a fab weekend..mine is going to fast

new find and challenges…

Don’t you love it when you find a new groovy blog that sells chipboard (and more) and also does challenges. Well I was googling/facebooking or something and came around Stuff 2 scrap and you need to check it out.Β  And I so want all of there chipboard too….mmmmm drools thru a box of tissues in mins LOL.Β  But what caught my eye was Leeann Pearce’s work…OMG her LO for this challenge is amazing and she is def added to my fav list of people now. gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous.

Anyway the challenge there for june is to use the colours Lime green, Turquoise and Ballet Blue. 5 buttons and of course chipboard. I did have to think…what is ballet blue??? And still I wasn’t sure if its a Aussie thing or not but in NZ (or my house) I am unsure..so I hopefully matched up as good as I could from the little colour samples on their blog.

and my close up

not sure if the colours showed up well but the buttons are lime green…not as pale as they look in here and the strings/cords are much more intense in colour too. Anyway I am liking the finished result so happy with another LO done and a new place to play at.

Now my next challenge was to play along with Scrap the boys and their interesting colour challenge. Well anything with red in, and yellow may I add is a huge challenge to me. But as my friend Lydia said…”It’s called a challenge for a reason” LOL…yes I know but red and yellow..that nearly got binned in the too hard basket LOL…but I continued and this is what I came up with πŸ™‚

Β  I am quite amazed at the photo’s really…they were taken in 2005 with our then cheap digital camera and the quality is not too dodgy at all…funny. You can’t see but the dots on the BG red star paper are also yellow…double wow to me in the yellow department LOL.

Plus so more exciting news from a scrappy friend Annelie. She is starting up a new challenge blog called Challenge Me Happy . Now this you must check out and join in on the fun. Already there are a fab group of talented scrapper and we want you there too. Come and say hi on the blog and on facebook too. You don’t wanna miss out on this one, believe me…..like and be into win some scrappy goodness and I am sure once the design team is announced the fun will really begin πŸ™‚

Ta for making it to the end.

Happy long weekend all

A couple of challenges complete :)

This week (well yesterday actually ) I got a couple of challenges ticked off my list

First off was the challenge by Frosted design and the challenge wasΒ  to do something that celebrated BBQ’s, picnics and outdoor games.

I used these old photos of Cam having a picnic in Waihola with his Gran and Aunty. It’s a little off my style with the papers but of course one can still add some grunge with paint splatters and ink some where..right πŸ˜›

and close up…love those little clouds…too cute πŸ™‚

And for the next LO I worked with the Sketchy Thursdays challenge sketch 5.26 which is

at first I thought it was a little basic and not quite me but tried anyway πŸ™‚ and here is what I cam up with πŸ™‚

I just loved these photo’s of Charli in her big brothers underwear…and yes she continued to run into the lounge to show him…in which he protested and vowed to never wearing those ones ever again…way funny at the time….and still cracks me up when I see the photo’s.

some close ups..I used my favourite liquid pearls colour (peacock) to frame the photos and papers with…yummy yummy colour πŸ™‚

and my new favourite alphas that I got from Scrapbook paradise on Friday they are “the girls’ paperie’Β  print alphas……..mmmm yummy yummy

Right thats it for me now..best get on to organising the tea for the growing gremlins πŸ™‚

TFL all

white with 1 challenge

I haven’t played along with white with 1 for a while (not sure why coz it’s a fab blog/site) so decided to throw myself off the deep end and do there white with orange and scallops challenge. Now those that know me, know that brights and me normally don’t go, and I actually can’t believe I had anything orange in my stash but here we go anyway.

my take..This LO is the first one I have done of my new nephew Leo…Isn’t he a cutie and I am sure there will be many crafty things featuring this young man on from now on.

So close ups of wording and I actually don’t own any orange paint to I watered down so orange TH ink on my resist mat and flicked onto page with paint brush πŸ™‚ I think I am going to have to start collecting some more bright colours to my collection.

And side details..aren’t those little cartoon people the cutest from Pink paislee- hometown collection….cute!!!!

Better go..busy day ahead.

Hope everyones day is a good one
